TOM FENTON owner of RED GARTER RESTAURANT in Salamanca, NY, hangs the last flag getting ready to throw an appreciation party at the Patio Bar at Red Garter to send off local friends, PFC Tim Jacobson, (Echo Company 3/142 Aviation Btln), son of John & Nancy Jacobson from Salamanca, NY and 2nd LT Bob Meyer (Marine Corps), son of Greg & Donna Meyer of Ellicottville, NY, to Iraq in June 2008. Tom is quoted as saying “This is a big deal to us here at Red Garter and WNY, these people are our friends and family, we are so very proud of them and will miss them. It is encouraging to see such dedicated people so willing to move forward to honor and protect others. This event is not about whether or not you support the “War”, it’s to support those that are on the front line. We want them to know and remember how much they mean to us.” Recognizing the others heading to Iraq in June traveling with Tim and Bob from military groups; Echo company 3/142 Aviation Btln, The Marine Corp and The New York Army National Guard are: PFC Chris Slater, PFC Sean Marvin, PFC Jim Clayson, PFC Sean See, PFC James Pastor, PFC Sean Kelly, SPC Angela Granger, SPC Joseph Razack, SPC Kenny Gordon, SPC Jen Quintara, SPC Justin Button, SGT David Pitts.
