| Patrons always ask where we came up with our name. Here's our story. Once upon a time the piano keys pounded, banjos strummed and can can girls danced on the stage at the Red Garter Playhouse, recreating the atmosphere of "The Old West." The Playhouse was the centerpiece of a wild west theme park which operated in the late 1960's on this site. The theme park, named " Fentier Village " after its founders Verna Fenton and the late Ned Fenton, Jr, showcased talent as good as anything on The Ed Sullivan Show and cowboys and Indians put on their show in the streets of the village. | ![]() |

Although Fentier Village is long gone, you can feel the nostalgia and see the memorabilia at the Red Garter Restaurant, which Verna and Ned's son, Tom Fenton, built in 1994. Visitors are once again welcomed to Round Top Mountain , located just south of the Allegany River , to enjoy the western cuisine, the panoramic views and the exceptional service. "You'll feel like you're dining on the edge of the earth while overlooking the winding Allegany River and rolling hills that surround Salamanca", explains your host, Tom. "The Red Garter Restaurant is the place to be for an occasion you will never forget." |
Our mission is to provide exceptional cuisine and superior customer service in a beautifully casual setting with unparalleled views. The Red Garter's latest incarnation as a western/southwestern venue promises to be the most successful to date. Our excellent kitchen staff 0comes to the Red Garter with tremendous experience in the culinary arts. Our Server and Bartender staff is professional and friendly; a really hard combination to find.
